Relevant Teaching Experience with Universities:

Professor Caroline Wang was appointed as Adjunct Professor of School of Business and Management, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology in 2003 when she was the highest ranked Asian female executive at IBM globally. She has more than 30 years of working experiences in the US and across Asia Pacific.  Professor Wang is now HKUST Honorary Fellow and Professor of Business Practice at HKUST as well as Board Director for 4 companies in Technology, Media, Fashion, and Pharmaceutical industries.

 

Professor Wang has taught MBA, Executive MBA and executive development programs at many leading universities: HKUST, Tsinghua University, Peking University, and National University of Singapore. Her course topics include “Managerial Decision Making and Leadership”, “Leading across Diversities”, “Leading Change”, “Business Leadership”, and “Managerial Communication”.

 

Consulting and Executive Education Experience with Companies / Organizations:

Professor Wang has also taught at many leading organizations, including Bank of China, Bausch & Lomb, Bertelsmann, China Mobile, Chinese local governments, GE, Haier, Hong Kong Jockey Club, Hong Kong SAR Government, HuaWei, Michelin, Schneider, TCL, Volvo, WalMart, etc.

 

Industry Experience:

During her 30 years career at IBM, Professor Wang was in the US for 15 years, and 15 years in Asia Pacific. During her tenure in Asia Pacific, she was Vice President in charge of  Marketing across 14 countries, Vice President of Information Technology responsible for IBM internal Y2K readiness in 1999, Vice President of Business Transformation responsible for optimizing the US$500M annual budget to continuously improve IBM’s business results through effective and efficient business processes and tools, General Manager of Health and Pharmaceutical Industries, and Partner for Human Capital Management consulting practice in Global Business Services.  Caroline also served as Chairwomen of the Asia Pacific chapter of IBM Global Women’s Diversity Council which advocated and advised on women’s contribution and advancement in leadership.

 

Research and Publications:

Born in Taiwan, Professor Wang was the valedictorian of her graduating class at National Taiwan University before going to the U.S. for graduate studies.   She has a Master of Art degree from University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in Sociology, and Master of Science degree from Harvard University in Health Services Administration and Population Sciences.  She has published “Managerial Decision Making and Leadership” in English by Jossey-Bass, an imprint of Wiley, and “决策思维” in both Simplified Chinese and Traditional Chinese.
