Professor Rao is Adjunct Professor at HKUST where he has taught in the Department of Economics since 2003. Prior to HKUST, Professor Rao taught at the Graduate School of Business at Columbia University and at the Stern School of Business at New York University.
Rao is an authority on value investing with additional expertise in international macroeconomics and monetary policy. His classes are consistently the highest rated and consistently oversubscribed with most of the students in the MBA program taking his courses every year in subjects such as Global Macroeconomics, Money and Macroeconomics and Value Investing.

Selected Teaching and Professional Awards：
Rao has been recognized for his outstanding teaching abilities. He has been the recipient of numerous awards. He has won the Best Professor award in every program at HKUST including an unprecedented record eight times in the premier EMBA program in the world—the Kellogg HKUST EMBA program. He is the only faculty in the program’s history to have won the latter award more than twice. The elective course “Global Macroeconomics”, taught by Prof Milind Rao, was named one of three “CEMS Courses of the Year” in 2016. He is the only faculty at HKUST to have won the CEMS award (given across 33 partner schools worldwide) for best faculty.
