Professor Chen is a tenured Full Professor, and Associate Dean and the Director of MBA programs at the School of Business and Management at Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. He has been on the faculty at HKUST since 2006 and started to teach in MBA, EMBA, and Executive Education programs since 2009. He has taught financial and managerial accounting to full- and part-time MBA programs in Hong Kong, China, Japan and Saudi Arabia. He is also Director on the Board of Directors of a HK Stock Exchange listed company

Professor Chen’s research interests are on corporate governance, earnings quality, and family firms. His research has been published in top tier accounting finance journals, namely, The Accounting Review, Journal of Accounting and Economics, Journal of Financial Economics, Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis, and Accounting and Organizations and Society.
