Core Courses

Induction Module

The induction module involves both experiential and multidisciplinary learning. Students are implanted with self-awareness and team leadership skills with challenging activities. Through discussion, critical evaluation and comparison of different perspectives on a business case, they will develop the capability to think from multiple viewpoints.

Financial Accounting

Financial accounting is an essential tool for people outside the company – investors, owners, creditors and government agencies etc. – to understand business operations. This module equips students with knowledge on how to review, analyze, and interpret financial statements strategically.

Accounting for Decision Making and Control

Managerial accounting provides insights into the internal and strategic aspects of business entities. Through this module, the students learn how to use managerial accounting knowledge to evaluate company competitiveness and make informed business decisions.

Statistical Decision Analysis

Employing a probabilistic framework and quantitative approach, this module takes scientific approaches to enable students to make critical and rational business decisions in face of market risks.

Managerial Economics

Managerial Economics is concerned with the application of microeconomic concepts and analysis to decision methods of business. This module equips students with the analytical tools to make rational decisions, from pricing strategies to forecasting organizational structures.

Pricing Strategy

The module explores how to develop pricing strategies from economic, strategic and psychological perspectives, and how to critically evaluate how pricing drives business sustainability and profitability. With the help of case studies, students will explore tools for assessing consumers' willingness to pay and how the information can be used to improve pricing strategies.

Corporate Finance

Corporate finance deals with the sources of funding and the capital structures of corporations to maximize shareholder value. This module provides students with the financial analytical tools and knowledge to allocate financial resource to achieve corporate growth.

Investment Analysis

The module teaches basic theories of investment analysis and related analytical tools, introduces risk and return tradeoffs, diversified investment and modern portfolio theory, capital asset pricing model, arbitrage pricing theory, and basic analytical tools used to analyze fixed-income securities.

Operations Management

The module introduces the core concepts of operations management, allowing students to understand how to create value through operations improvement, the key factors of business process improvements, and how to enhance business competitiveness through operations management.

Strategic Value and Supply Chain Management

The module will discuss the importance of value chain management and corporate operating experience and give students an informed understanding of how today’s enterprises effectively integrate their value chain and business activities, production processes and management systems to increase their competitiveness.

Marketing Strategy

This module is designed to expose students to the classic and latest concepts in marketing strategy and planning, and explores how these powerful tools can be harnessed to create greater consumer value and competitive advantage.

Understanding Consumers

The module explores how consumer perception and emotion affect consumer behavior. Through case studies, the students will gain a deep understanding of tools and methodologies to understand consumer mindset and behavior and therefor design better marketing strategies.

Management of Organizations

Understand the strengths and weaknesses of key management and leadership concepts, including scientific management, interpersonal relationship management, open socio-technical systems, Lawrence and Lorsch's organizational contingency theory, and Harvard/McKinsey's 7S model. Master Chinese and Western thought on management, leadership, and organization.

Capstone Management Strategy and Execution

Case studies and business simulations explore strategic management, decision making, and strategy execution in a competitive environment. Teams participate in intensive simulation exercises practicing things learned from EMBA programs, including accounting, economics, finance, and marketing.
